i am prob wrong but the whole drone noise is just ELs. m mate has an EL XR6 with redback 2.5" cat-back and i have the some exhaust on both my EFs and they both have a burble to em. so id suggest a redback (about $240) but only going on what mine sounds like.

depends on what you want to do.
Headers(extractors) and exhaust or just exhaust? I recommend a 2.5" catback with 1 muffler 1 resonator, beautiful idle note, real beefy note as you give it some, and @ 100km/h (or on highway) it is nice and quiet. just the catback will be ~$250-$350 set of extractors will help performance and give a further beefy note (especially on idle.. drool).

If you dont want drone get one with a single muffler and a resonator. With the single muffler it will be loud and it will drone lol

realyl depends on your personal preferance, how loud you want it, and how bad the drone needs to be before it annoiys you.
If you want something quietish that will really only make noise when you floor it, just replicate the standard exhaust using higher flowing mufflers and resinators. So headers, cat converter, front resinator, main muffler and then rear resinator. Want a big more noise than that remove the first resinator or replace it or both with hot dogs. More noise after that replace the rear resinator with a hot dog. As has been mentioned above, the headers and cat converter will also effect the noise. Personally I think Lukey mufflers give the best noise, but that's just my personal opinion. Steer clear of there extractors though. |

'mercury' mufflers with 'hitech' extractors are a wiked combination, not aswell known as redback and pacemakers, but my dads got a mercury single muffler and hitech extractors on his xh 6 cylinder and theres no drone, its f**k loud. truely can be mistaken for a v8.
puts my lukey cat back and pacemakers to shame.

Ive heard good things about Jim Mocks 2.5 inch catback- funnily enough about the only thing ive heard good things about. aparently its a custom bent pipe designed to give high flow and low drone/resonance.
would prolly cost a bit though from there, anyone know the current asking price on a JMM catback?

From what I've heard they use RedBack exhaust system - could be wrong but. If you want a high flowing exhaust make a diff dumper, as any bends are just going to restrict flow. |

I made my exhaust, and i don't work in an exhaust shop or have access to exhaust bending gear. Just used mandrel bends and such. My exhaust has only 1 muffler, no resonators, and a CAT, and it does not drone at any speed which is what i wanted, and it isn't loud.
I have 4488 Pacies, a modified BMW cat, a twin 2& 1/4" into the muffler, then a single 2& 1/2" after that. It brought the useable RPM range up, and improved mid range power. I'm yet to put it on the dyno to see how well it works.
