Nah mate leave the engine in place...on the ef u got to remove the intake manifold,plenum chamber,fuel rail,exhaust manifold, pull power steering pump aside and I pulled out my radiator to give it a good flush at the same time. Pretty straight forward for the head gasket just take care lifting the head off, something I didnt and ended up snapping the upper fixed timing chain guide! haha BUGGER

you dont need to take the intake off either just take out the bolts that attach it to the head and you can move it aside enough to lift the head.
