Hay there guise
I have a 95 EF Falcon GLi and before last weekend i had a 2.5 inch cat back exhaust system on my car and it sounded FULLY SICK MATE! And now I just got a brand new set of Pacemaker competition extractors and a magnaflow high flow cat fitted on my car. I've noticed a power increase and it definitely makes it sound meaner at idle, but i'm not really liking the new exhaust note it makes at around 1400 revs. It kinda sounds like a ricer or something. But anywhere after that, it sounds awesomeness. My mate reckons that because i got brand new parts, it may take a bit of wearing them in before it will go away and sound better. What do you guys think? |

Yeah it might take a bit for the exhaust to settle in. That's what I was told and what I had found when I got my 2.5" Lukey exhaust put on. Not loud, just a nice note.

There's some truth about an exhaust system 'bedding in' or 'carboning up'.
You've change the headers/extractors, they make a big difference to exhaust note, and a high flow cat will have less 'muffling' effect than the factory one. While not always 100% - changing headers/extractors changes the note - changing exhaust changes the volume - also different materials sound different, mild steel, stainless, titanium all have differing sounds.

the carbon has to build up a bit on the inside of the pipes and it takes away from its tinny noise if thats the noise you are refering to

Sounds very familiar. Mine sounded a little quiet and odd when i first installed the paceys and high flow cat. BUT...after around 800 - 1000 kms it started to sound alot nice.
Give it time. MITCHY

hi good peoples !
someone here must know the answer to this question! i own a au series 1 4ltr auto ! stock everything. in about 2 months i will have purchased all my parts for my full exhaust change ! i am getting the pacie 4480 comps as there $495 bucks ! the same price as the 4499's ! 2.5 inch sports exhaust with 1 muffler! heres my problem ! i have already purchased my high flow cat wich is a sterling brand racing only 100cpsi ! i did not know this product was illegal at the time of purchase and its to late to return to the supplier ! are these mods likely to wake up the dead at the local cemetery when going for my nightly cruises ! do you think the pigs will here me from two suburbs away ! and what sort of a fine would be incured if i get caught with that cat . |

Most people that have had pacemaker comps 4488's fitted say that the note from the standard 4499"s was better on there car. You can search all the threads yourself, if you like. Just from what I have read...

I had 4499 copys, switched to genuine 4480s. Definitely preferred the 4499 note.

Ive just fitted my new Pacies 4499 and magnaflow high flow 200 cpsi cat to the already fitted 2 1/2 inch redback sports system and it sounds like s**t too and seems to bit a bit laggy not as good as the original system to be honest. It has that "pinging" noise which s**t me to tears, i was really hoping for that burble. i also have a aunger big mouth cold air fitted, and am about to update cam hopefully that will give me that little lumpy burble. I hope it does come good after 1000 ks tho. Just on the side i got my pacies cheap from a mob i found on ebay called online performance autos which have their own website just google it as its cheaper through their website. $410 cash picked up from hallam in victoria.

nah honestly holdens are fine there drivers thats a diffrent story
i like holdens because they are lighter and have a good first gear ford more power bad first gear and heavyer i figure put the ford engine into the holden with for diff gears and u beat both holden and ford build quality wise i think ford wins it by a long shot

peetys here wrote: hi good peoples ! Because your car is pre 2003 i'm pretty sure that 100cpsi cats are legal. It's only the more recent cars = emissions standards which mean you aren't supposed to use them.i have already purchased my high flow cat wich is a sterling brand racing only 100cpsi ! i did not know this product was illegal at the time of purchase and its to late to return to the supplier ! I have 4480 pacies on both my VCT sedan and AU XL ute. I reckon they are the go. The sedan has a 2.5" Redback mandrel system and stock cat. The ute has 3" Mandrel system with huge resonators and 200cpsi Zetti cat. The ute is plenty quiet. The VCT sporty but not loud. We do highway travel on a regular basis. Fine. So volume really depends on resonator size / effectiveness. |
