good quality oil filter wrench.
or a screwdriver straight through it works well.

oil goes everywhere! *100 or so ml.
I've never had to resort to a screwdriver in a ef onwards, only a eb. Screwdriver turns it into a big breakerbar with its own socket.

what type of filter remover are you using??
i use the type with 3 fingers on a ratchet type thing that go on the end of the filter. and ive had a filter that tight that the filter wrench crushed the filter as it was undoing it.. i swear the type i use has never let me down.. yet.. lol or as others have said a big screw driver will get it off aswell... |

nah just the circle grip ones with the handle they are pretty ordinary, so do u just drive the screw driver through the side of it ?

The better way of using a screwdriver is to hit it where the upper rim is, the rolled edge, it will grip there, and you wont spill any oil. Or, get the 3 legged oil filter removing tool, from Repco, or Supercheap, or other reputable tool suppliers. They are the Bee's knees.

all ive used is a piece of 1/2'' inside diameter square pipe, slit cut in one end, seatbelt put through it, end of slit welded back up. tighten it up and use a 1/2'' ratchet or breaker bar on it, works wonders
