Ive been using the Drift ones since i got the EL, for one reason only. They have a nut welded on the end which makes it easy to remove
 sheer laziness really. Bit pricier tho, i think they're $15-20 eachOh and its got a magnet in it to catch metal filings, always intended to cut one open to see what the magnet had on it. I initially got one after i got the head machined to catch any bits i missed when i cleaned the head. Just thought about it and its alloy, so magnet wouldn't do anything anyway

yer i use k&n ones, they are pricey but i feel their better, after a few changes it cleaned up the oil in my ea with 180k. and the nut is handy as !
on the other side of the scale i was getting cooper z9's for $3 which was too good for me to turn down lol but they went up to around 5-6 and it broke the bank... lol

doesnt really matter which ones you use. Ive been told not to use the black ryco ones (like most things it depends on what horror stories you hear).
the z9 valvoline is the one thats on the shelves so its the one I use lol.

i've thought about that, but i think by the time you see visible chunks of metal it would be too late. i think they're more for the finer particles.
but also i've thought that metal that fine in the oil probably wouldn't hurt, as long as theres no chance of it blocking any galleries. if the motor is old enough to have lost that much metal it could do with not loosing it completely and have it cycle back through maybe theoretically filling the micro gaps.

I usually use genuine ford/holden stuff.But at other times use ryco and repco.I pay $4.75 for AFL 1 filters.

I use Ryco Z9 Oil Filter's, I get them for $6.30.
I also couple it with Castrol Magnetec 10w40 as recommended on Castrol's own website.

what are peoples thought's on the reuseable ones at vpw.com?
good?, bad? do they filter down to the same as the paper ones? eg, 30 microns |
