Yeah Gday,
got a small oil leak from harmonic balancer area, mech tried new crank seal but still happenin. same area. Have been reading about sealant in the balancer keyway / woodruff key?? Is this something that could be easily missed and give a small leak. Where is this keyway on the balancer. changed oil recently and it got dirty/black in a couple of days? can alot of contaminents get in through this leak, since quite a bit is getting out. thanks. |

The ford I6 was designed to leak oil from the factory, haha.
Could be coming from the timing cover, or the front of the sump gasket too. Shouldnt need any sealant on the keyway, mine has been fine after recent timing cover and seal change.

new crank seal wont help if the old seal has worn a small groove into the balancer. If the new seal didnt fix it, then try a new balancer, some aftermarket ones are better than others.

You might want to check your power steering fluid ain't leaking metasaiah...it might catch on fire and burn your engine bay to a crisp...has happened before. Power steering fluid is flammable if you didn't know. phong =P~

You have to remove the power steering pump and bracket to access it. |
