Hi everyone,

I have just had a problem with my car. a couple weeks ago i have got my headers done, and since then there has been a plastic burning smell for over the past two weeks. And since it has been that long i am unsure if that is the problem or not? looked around and cant seem to find what the problem could be.

Also to add to that, notice a bit of oil or some what between the battery compartment and the power steering and i am unsure what it could be possibly leaking out of? First thoughts was power steering but that was fixed a couple months ago and dosent seem to be an issue when driving.

And not sure if this contributes to the other problems but also when air con is turned on occasionally the car engine area sounds really loud and a click noise. The noise is sometimes that loud its louder then the exhaust.

hey mate can't really help you out on the other points but i know when i got my exhaust done i could smell it for at least a month!

Dont worry about the exhaust - thatsnormal, should start to die away soon though

Plastic smell can be from the heat of the extractors near the brake booster, the fix is to use some plumbing foil tape on the side of the brake booster near the extractors . Brake booster have been none to crack.

the oil leak you described sounds like the power steering switch. they are often hit or bumped when people fit extractors. its no one fault just in an awkward spot. if you look on the power steering rack where the shaft goes in you will see what looks like an oils sender with 2 wires and a plug. it will most likely be leaking from there. they cost about 5-40 at a wrecking yard or a bit more new. you could try pulling it out and checking it and maybe put some silicone around it if you cant see the leak, but if the silicone stops the leak go get a new one..
