Taking my new EL for a drive today out to Bendigo. COming home I switched over from gas to petrol as gas was low. A few minutes later the oil light comes on, hangs for a bit then goes off and fades in and out briefly. No probs before switching or since I bought the car wednesday. And none after I switched it back to gas.
Car was running fine, and temps were all ok.
Although the car doesnt idle as smoothly with fuel as it does on gas Ive noticed.
Also at the time the oil light was on the radio sounded a bit scratchy too.
Any ideas on whats up?
Liz

Well i guess it could be a fault in the wiring somewhere, but i wouldnt be just sitting around and hoping. Try and get an oil pressure gauge (if yours doesnt have one?) and see what sort of oil pressure you're actually getting. Sensors can just be faulty after time, but definately have a look see. If you know your mechanic well, he may even stick one on for you just to test it, in the hopes that hell pick up the work on it. Tis worth a try

he he I havent checked, but having just bought it from my dealer, the cars we get are usually serviced before I get em. Will check in the morning.
Thing is the light didnt stay on and hasnt come on before this or since.
Wondering if it was a d**k electrical thing?

thats the problem with dual fuel cars u can get 1 running good but the other wont idle as good and depending on the person that tuned it it may even stall.. with the oil light do the old bushys trik and tape it up with a bit of duct tape.. other then that take it to a mechanic it may have some codes stored on the computer.

Its still under warranty so will most definitely be picking any little thing making sure it gets fixed.
Actually had a prob with the daihatsu ( which I have for sale). The oil light always came on after the engine warmed up. Did oil and filter change and oil treatment. Still came on. Turns out it was the filter in the sump was carboned up.

If your mechanicallly minded you can pick up a capillary oil pressure guage from any auto shop and plug it into the RHS of the block under the intake manifold looking at the car from the front. You will need to stick it up on a gutter or some ramps and its a 27mm deep socket that is needed to get the sender out from memory. The capillary lines are easy to fit, generally they have an olive and fittings on one end and a built in olive fitting on the guage end. once set up it should read 280kpa @ 2000rpm

the codes come from the computer and tell you wat is rong with it but i dont think it would be that because its only the oil light however if it was the engine light then you would get some1 to read the codes

i believe it's an earth problem also, this similar thing happened to a customers car, and the volt gauge was dropping off also, got to the stage of replacing the cluster, but the boss said to check the earths and +positive of the vehicle.
turns out the nut on the alternator was loose, and the earth strap from motor to body was loose.

electrical fault, probably loose wire, or bad earth.
