Leaving engine oil go for 10,000km is ridiculous.....no longer 5,000km or 6 months, which ever occurs first.

Service icon comes up every 10,000k that's when i change it. I used to change it every 5 but it was still clean. |

I agree, 10,000 klms is ok for engine oil. These days OIL has come a long way since the 1960's and it has been engineered to be used for longer periods. Our utes at work are done every 15,000 klms (Falcon BA/BF)
Does your car put out smoke when you start the car and for about 2-3 mins after starting? |

This may seem strange, but was the oil filter tight enough?
What does your oil pressure sit at on cluster? Do you park it on grass? Reason I say this is I couldn't work out where my oil was going on the v8, with oil loss barely noticeable (clear oil and I park on lawn ) a nice smooth steady drip run down the same part of the bloody filter lol Could have been a bad gasket/ ring seal dunno, but I always make sure I tighten filters fairly well, if anything I'm a little overzealous with it.

Um the cars got 125xxx, cant exactly remember what oil i put in it last time. 5-30w i think. I havnt changed the brand for a while. {USERNAME} wrote: I agree, 10,000 klms is ok for engine oil. Not really just the normal, to be honest have really noticed ill take more of a note of it next time i start it up. The car is always warmed up for a min or two before I drive it? |

I tighten it then turn it back a quarter of a turn like it says cause then its a C*** to take off |

check the engine oil in the morning after it's all embedded.
If it's very dark in colour, then u need an oil change. If it's very light in colour, then u dont need one. simple

Anyone going to comment on using 5-30w in a 130,000 decade old engine?
Is there anything that anyone would like to say? Anything? Anybody? |
