But if it were me, I'd still go the 10w40 for winter and the 15w50 for summer months. Good luck with it all I don't believe there is a need to change to a thicker oil for summer. Everyone's different.

Everyone's different. It whole reason multi grade oils were invented. and then we run AUs on 5w30 during 40degree summers with out a problem. but if you feel you need to waste petrol in summer go for it. |

OHHH how grown up of you.
At least back your self with some fact or evidence that running thicker oil in summer is of some benefit. |

I had an AU 6 cylinder, and I used to run Mobil 1 5w30 in it year in year out, and lift off the rocker cover and it was as clean as buggery. The car got mangled by a roo but the motor was as good as the day it was built. And it didnt use anymore fuel on a hot day as a cold day. Where that gem comes from I don't know. When the EB gets a new motor and is run in properly, that sucker will be run on Mobil 1 as well.

thinner than what the manufacturer says to use? doesn't sound right unless it's been rebuilt with tighter clearances
i ended up using Penrite HPR30 15w60 semi synthetic. the oil pressure is good all the time and the engine is soooooooo quiet apart from when it'a warm and you say turn it off and then restart it like 10mins later there is slight lifter rattle which goes away after about 5-10seconds at idle. is it being 60weight when warm too thick? should i drop to a 50weight?
