hey guys i think my relief valve has screwed itself, car has a new motor so i know the tollerances are good, I think the relief valve shat itself, today i was sitting at the lights everything fine and oil pressure just collapsed, a quick blip and it came up again, but as revs dropped so did the damn pressure.

getting another one is no issue, but can someone please refresh my memory as to where the hell it is again. Its raining here so i cannot stick my head under the bonnet, and the frickin gregories only talks about it and does not show it.

I will probably remember by the time I get a useful reply, but i thouht I would ask..

Sorry for the waste of time. Oh, I am confident this is the item at fault, new JP hi flow pump was used, and tested on install so i know its not that.

The oil pressure releif valve is part of the oil pump assembly. Tho some some oil filters have a bypass valve in them to stop the engine oil passing thru it in the event of the filter becoming blocked. Unsure wether those style filters are available for fords.

You didn't say that the egine went tappy or noisy when the oil pressure collapsed. So first thing I'd do is remove the sender unit and fit a mechanical oil pressure guage to the motor and check the oil pressure that way. I'm not sure of the merits of using a hi volume pump on the ford 6 due to the extra drag on the dist drive gear, but JP pumps are normally a quality unit.

yeah no lifter noise or anything to mention, it may even just be a faulty sender.

the filter bypasses when blocked so that the engine still gets oil, (dirty oil is better then no oil) you shouldn't notice a pressure change when the filter is in bypass.

I wouldn't go pulling things apart untill you verify the oil pressure with a quality mechanical gauge

Diagrams, directions or links for instructions on the best way to set one up? permanently would be ideal. Maybe one of those ricer backlit jobs so I can actually see it at night.

you should be able to get an 2inch autometer one with a mounting cup for a little over over $100.
try any local speed shop or auto bahn or call rocket.
