I was wondering if anybody could tell me the difference between the original and and aftermarket part I have come across, the timing chain tensioner , the aftermarket part was labelled oil pump chain tensioner in the supercheap (( http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/vehicl ... arts-guide )) parts list along side the original I also seen it in an timing chain kit ,
I opened my front cover of my barra engine to find my tensioner jammed in the completely closed position and my chain was dangling around , it,s had also jumped a cog although now I unjammed it and think I could probably put it back in again would this after market part help stop the problem from happening again and causing more damage....

I was NEVER asked for one of these while I sold Ford parts and for that matter, rarely was asked about timing chains or parts for the Barra Motor. Ford still uses the BAF 6K254A part number for the 6cyl right up to the FGX model. It appears that they changed this from BA MKII onwards. The Genuine one is $194.00 retail.
