Just make sure the car is out of gear so the crankshaft can't turn (& handbrake on). The cam will stay in place if it's not disturbed. The front rocker pedestal is directly behind the cam sprocket.

ifyou need to remove the cam for any reason use a few zip ties on the cam gear andthe timing chain
then remove the bolt to the cam and remove the cam when replacing it there is a little notch to line it all back up so as long as you dont turn the motor over or the chain youll be fine

Well with the rocker gear and plugs out crank it and see if u have oil. Ive just solved the same issue but there was no 1 fix.
But just see if you get oil to the top of the motor. If u are it aint the pump

The repair manual says to check the oil filter, oil viscosity, suction pipe screen, oil pump suction screen, and oil pressure sender.
Before you resort to pulling the engine out to replace the oil pump, you could try removing the synchonizer. Using a cordless drill with a socket and extension, you can spin the oil pump and check if the oil is coming out of the feed hole in the head. I'd do it with the rocker gear off.

if there is oil pressure at the pressure switch the oil pump is fine..
check the pressure with a mechanical external pressure gauge and see what psi it actually is at.. from memory it should be minimum 40psi at 2000rpm.... |

these engines have an oil filter bypass valve incase of filter blockage dont they.
or am i mistaken?

i pulled off the oil filter out and the middle hold appears un obstructed but the smaller holes that form a ring around it are blocked from the inside by an orange bladder?
is this normal??

The orange 'bladder' is part of the anti-syphon valve.

did you do a mechanical oil pressure test???
if not your just wasting your time playing guessing games.. you should know the procedure on fault finding bradley... or dont they teach the basics at tafe anymore?? otherwise just buy another engine... it will be cheaper...then you can fix the damage to your firewall at the same time. .. |
