just rebuilt dads motor in his ef, put back in started, had oil pressure but as rpm climed it dropped, then after about 15min died alltogether. We pulled k-frame off and changed the pump with a new one, put all back in and still the same thing? any ideas? yea we did prime both first and all gaskets are ok, got us stuffed

Are you going by the guage on the dash or a mechanical guage?

yeah it could be the sender or the dash gauge itself, ther arent the most accurate nor reliable. connect a mechanical gauge and see what you have, if theres still no pressure, take the rocker cover off and see if theres any oil up there, if the rocker gear is incorrectly fitted, or has a broken shaft, you will lose pressure, failing this, look at the bottom end again.

yea had the rocker cover off and it gets oil up no worries to begin with, then drops off and becomes rattly as in lifters

if rocker gear getts rattly s=make sure u shut the car down immediately, do ef has input shafts i thought the oil pump just span straight off the idler sproket.

id be looking for problems under the timing case in that region, like the sproket bolt is done up to the correct specifications

if oil pressure changes when the engine is hot or cold Id say it might be more to do with the bearing clearances. When you rebuilt the engine what exactly was done? Were the bearing clearances checked? Is it possible the crank has previously been ground and needed oversized bearings?

And the obvious - you definately have enough oil and its the right grade?
