yeah mine has 345,000km and doesn't burn any oil mate. There is nothing worse then following something burning oil makes you feel crook.
some diesels are horrible when they start burning oil as well as running richly yech

Like the solution to most Today-Tonight stories....
"Eat more fresh fruits, and green leafy vegetables, and take moderate exercise...." Oh wait... it wasn't another weight loss story |

prolly find it would still be advised though. channel 10 may even run em on biggest Tosser as well..
MOST of the time with car related stuff you are gonna get what you pay for. buy cheap get cheap. pay some $$ and someone you trust and things should be good.

what a crock of s**t!
"80% of mechanics are using the wrong oil" - thats a pretty big call and he knows he doesnt have to be answerable to it. "ask your mechanic to show you the oil container he used to check the api reading" - as a business owner i use XLD(API SF/SG) for mainstream vehicles and if they want to see the container, they're more than welcome to view the 2000 litre tank i have. when is someone going to do a report on reporters?

I agree with you there TaraHymen, what a crock. If I'm suss on what oil I need to put in a customers car, I'll check their owners manual, and see what it says, and if we haven't got that particular grade specified, (in stock), then we get either Genuine oil, or equivalent. There are some moron mechanics out there, though, seen quite a few in my time. Currently, I'm using Mitsubishi engine oil, 15W50, with Nulon E20, and it runs great. The car was badly abused, service wise, before I got it. Anyway, biulding a new engine for it at the momment, got my custom grind cam today, plenty more to get yet.

iv found for my falc, as well as the family thrash tarago, i use synthetic oils. even when the oils dirty and black, its still clear, like dirt suspended in fluid, keeps the engine cleaner thats for sure. as well as the rocker cover

That is one of the jobs that even a quality mineral oil does too, keeps impurities and debris in suspension to drain out with the oil change. Larger debris are caught in the filter. 20% of the volume of the 5lt bottle of mineral oil, is additives.

You lose HP with oil that thick. And puts extreme load on the gearing to drive the oil pump.

Ran on pump fuel, and had an engine oil cooler, and used 20W50 oil in it for 2yrs, then tranplanted the engine & tranny into an LH Torana, that was in 1993, haven't seen the Torana since 97. But that motor & box was still in it. We also ran Nulon E20 with the oil.
