Its your thermostat. Although not common, your thermostat gasket might have gone, very cheap to replace and easy to do it yourself, just be prepared for a fair bit of water to splurt out when you unbolt it (unless you choose to drain the coolant from one of the pipes first.) The green stuff is coolant.

if its a slow leak its fine.
if there coolant in the overflow tank go nuts. just pull the top off it, and clean up both top and bottom surfaces, put a small smear of sealant on it and tighten it up. although they say these dont need sealant, i prefer to use a tiny about just to be safe, as ive seen them leak without it before.

I agree with Gaz
A small amount of Selastic sealant will prevent it leaking again. If you don't want a mess, siphon coolant out of the coolant tank, till the tank is empty. Once you have finished and topped the system back up. Run the engine at idle until the coolant in the tank is hot. This ensures the thermostat is open and any air in the system has returned to the tank.

If you actually look at the second picture you will notice that its not the thermostat gasket leaking but the heater hose "O" ring that is leaking. All you need to do is a replacement "O" ring from repco ask them for a water pump "O" ring then get a 10mm spaner and undo the bolt that is holding the heater hose into the thermostat housing and pull it away, water will be gushing out wait till it dies away then pull the old "O"ring off with a little flat blade screw driver.
Now use a little bit of Vasso on the new "O" ring and slide it on to the end of the hose and push the hose back into the housing. After you have done the 10mm bolt up tight start the car and fill up the coolant leave remembering to turn the heater on FULL and leave the cap off until the car is at operating temp and the coolant leave is up to max then do the cap back up and all is done. It will take you about 10mins to do all up. If you want it to heat up quicker put it in nutrual (im assuming it auto here) and hold your foot flat, you dont need it flat but yea and it will sit at 3,000rpm no more and that will heat it up quicker. Griffo ps the bolt and hose i am talking about is the big gold looking one in the third picture you have up there. I wasnt sure if you where going to be able to tell which bolt i was talking about

Too easy mate, if you actually look you can see the same s**t that is on ur A/C (dried coolant) as on were the heater hose goes into the thermostat housing. Thats how you can tell its leaking from there and not the actual thermostat gasket
