Did a head gasket this morning... ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGHHHHHHH

Anyways.... Got the exhaust and intake off, heads removed.....

Is there any point doing modifications to engine with 230,000 KMS???

Cause now would be the perfect time..... Perhaps a performance cam....

Pistons seem a little chipped off around the edges.... but the block feels pretty strong and clean still...

Whatta you guys reckon... Leave it alone????

EDIT: Its an EF 6

230,000 kms is not a lot for one of these engines that has been serviced regularly. If it didn't use much oil before you did the head gasket it should be fine.

Yes, now would be a good time to replace the cam and the heater hoses and heater tap under the intake manifold.

Check timing if pistons are chipped...Sounds like its been detonating??...Even though they have det sensers...
That will cause head gasget issues too...

To be honest i think the timing was a bit retarded..... Ill double check that one...

I dont really wana do any major mods like turboing... i couldnt put the thing past 5psi neway cause of the bottom end.... and $3-4K later... :S

$110 to modify my cam, or $250 for a new one.... Mild performance... looks to be the way to go :D
