Running temp on a good motor (in average conditions - 25-30 degrees) should be between the "r" and the "l" on the temp gauge. Ie: Running cool. How do you know he cooked the motor?

i would be lending him the car again..
if it got that hot that it melted the leads? i would say its more than likely cactus..(warped head for sure)
im suprised it still winds over..

ps, there are no rockets under that cover, so its not a rocket cover... its a rocker cover..lol

Questions for you;

1) Is the engine blowing smoke?

2) Is there loss of coolant, ie in the oil or leaking down the side of the block?

3) Is the motor making any unusual noises, ie knocking, rattle etc?

4) Whats the oil like? Change it for sure if it got that hot.

5) Have you changed the leads?

6) Change the thermostat. It will be stuffed after getting that hot.

7) Main question. Did you punch his lights out? And is he paying for the damage?
