hi guys
well i dyno'd my car today and i have a pinging issue. ive had this problem sinse i put the au engine in.. anyway the car will ping even with the timing set at 5 deg so it was suggested that i should run a colder plug . at the moment im running ngk zrg6b-11.. did some hunting around today and as far as i can find they dont make a zgr7b-11.. so do you think that a bpr7ey-11 would do the job.. or can anyone see me having issues with the plug being to cold??? |

Have you tried a higher octane fuel? When they rebuilt the engine, did they remove the sharp edge around the combustion chamber?
Is the fuel pump delivering enough fuel pressure? Does the fuel pressure regulator work properly?

hi
im running it on premium .. and its just a low km second hander from a wreck its got 77000kms on it . its got excelent compression it has 210 psi on all cyl. when i first got it going with the log manifold i had to keep the timing at tdc so it was drivable.. its now got bbm and el ecu. its got me stuffed why it still pings so much??? if i run the timing at about 2-3 deg befor tdc it doesnt ping but its gutless at the moment its at about 5-7degree.. and it only pings under load or when the engine is warm ...and it pulled 133kw @the wheels on the dyno today. but it was pinging ive changed all sensors and added a knock sensor.. so i thought maybe colder plugs might help??? |

What was AFR on the dyno?
Is it getting enough fuel? |

Yes, they will foul up quicker as they wont be hot enough to burn contaminates off. When you are setting the timing are you putting the ecu into diagnostic mods? Are the spark plugs all the same colour? If only one plug shows signs of detonation it might indicate a faulty/blocked injector causing it to go lean. Detonation can be a result of carbon buildup on the pistons and chambers. You can get fuel additives that will break it up, or you can spray a mist of water into the throttle body to give the engine a steam clean. also 210 sounds like too much compression for stocker

Is it getting enough fuel? at low rpm the air fuel started at about 15 and dropped down to about 12.5 at 120km then it dropped down to around 11.5 at 140km and roughly stay at that up to 180km |

as far as i know it is ..ive got a au knock sensor hooked up to the el ecu there is a yellow/red wire which i hooked up to pin 23 and the yellow wire to pin 46.. the only thin that i can see being a problem is if the au sensor has different values to the el one?? |
