G'Day,

I was driving home tonight, and stopped in at BP to tank up on trusty "BP Ultimate", only to find they didnt have any! So I motored on and checked out 4 other BP's, same thing, they were all out.

I eventually passed by a Shell servo, not that I like Optimax all that much, but to my surprise I found this new stuff called "Optimax Extreme" which is 100 octane!!

So I immediately tanked up and took the "long" way home. It's a little pricey at $1.22/ltr, but apart from that, it seemed pretty damn good. I mean, I'm not driving any boosted up crazy ride, it's a stock-box EL 4ltr, but it genuinely seemed to pull harder. I was watching the temp. and it didnt seem to run any hotter or anything, but it generally seemed to come on-song nicely and opened alright too.

Of course, this is all very subjective, and it could just be that cool late-night air, or maybe I just drive like an old-lady these days ....

What are your thoughts ?

Anyone else tried it yet ?

What do you take of the 5% ethanol ?

Pricey at $1.22 LITRE? You melbourne people have it so good, id love it if prices here in bendigo were the same as yours ! ! BP Ultimate, Optimax and all the other higher octane fuels are about $1.40 a litre, regular unleaded is about $1.30 or so...

Apco, yeah i remember when they had good fuel prices. Was the cheapest in town at one stage. Now its not much better than the rest of them, however there is a fair bit to be said for the quality of their fuel ! ! !

Where abouts in Bendigo are you from? Havnt seen anybody else here thats actually from Bendigo !

Spring Gully,

Yeah there fuel was pretty bad, but when I used to take Mums car out just for 1 hour blasts and waste a good 20 ltrs of fuel, i didnt care if the quality was good, just as long as it was cheap.

Which part are you from.......

Thanks twirqurky,

I dont make it over to the "ECU & Fuel System" forum much.

... sounds like some folks are really getting ripped on petrol prices, I just filled up at the Punt Rd servo as it was the closest. <shrug> ...

Damn it i havent seen anything on that down here. I used to go the Shell for LPG but since they kept running low and the pumps were always bung im back at BP again, paying $1.30/L for Ultimate

100 over the Ultimates 98 at BP, wouldnt think it would make a great deal of difference :?
