Hey guys, just got some pacie 4480s fitted to me el the other day and i'm looking at modifying the orignal heat shield to fit over the extractors. I know they don't do heaps but they wouldn't have put them on if they did absolutely nothing, and plus i prefer to keep a stockish look under the bonnet.
Just wanted to know if anyone has modified there old heat shield to fit over their extractors? It doesn't look hard to do, just a bit of bending and a bit of trimming/cutting should have it on fine. Just wanted some ideas

Should have asked Murray to fit it when He did ya zorst! From what I have seen when others do it, it does look pretty easy. Just make sure ya holes line up and go from there! Forgot to ask, Did he let ya keep your old zorst or did he bin it?

yeah just bend it a little bit and bolt on. - does need to be there as without it even std exhaust has been known to melt brake booster, which probly isn't nice.

cooki_monsta, think i'll just modify my old one, i'm a tight a** like garthr said, they wouldn't put an exhaust sheild on them in the factory if it did nothing. I'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to melting s**t like brake boosters! I know most guys are running them without the shield and don't have any problems but seriously though it can't hurt.

getEfd has the pacie comps and i have seen any heat soak visible on his car and it gets driven hard, the 4480's are coated with heat proof stuff too i think

It's only heat resistant paint, it doesn't keep any heat in (ie. an insulator or shield).

this has been raised a few times. i've fitted two sets of extractors (Lukeys and Pacey Comps) to my car and both times refitted the factory heat shield, all i did was attached it using only the top two bolt holes!

All done. I cut it down the middle so it would sit over the extractors better (the extractor pipe on no. 4 sits up a lot higher than the rest) so it kinda looks a bit wierd now but oh well! I will post up pics if anyone is interested
