97 el sedan by the looks. I just replaced my radiator, made a heap of difference. Even flat running at 110 would make it overheat, now i can hammer through the hills and the temp gauge hardly moves. This is after doing HG, thermostat, water pump, clutch fan, all new hoses, welsch plugs, heater taps, everything. Nice new 3 core does it fine

with my el it takes ages to heat up, and this was a little annoying cos it would run on choke for ages thus having not so good fuel economy and no real performance.. i stayed with the car doing that for a few months thought it was the weather being winter at the time.. then i deciced maybe its the thermostat not working properly.. bought one pretty cheap, replaced it, pretty easy and now takes no time at all to warm up and operate and its correct temperature.

the easiest way to check your thermostat is too take it out, boil a pot of water, hold the thermostat with pliers(or your hand, which ever suits you) and dunk it in the boiling water, if it opens up(or does anything) its fine. But if it dont open up, you need a new one.

Also do the same with a new one, or 2nd hand one(again, which ever suits you).

Less time wasted that way.

My EL had a dodgy temp sensor, it kept saying it was overheating, but it was really random. I just pulled it out and cleaned it and it was fine until the day I sold it.

thanx allot guys i did take out the thermstat it was the problem all along running it without one atm until i get one next couple of weeks i just find it rediculous wen Auto Bahn was saying it was gonna cost $1200 to fix the problem cause it was a head gasket blown and leaked into my exhaust manifold and i had to get my head machine or sum s**t..

took it to my mechanic that i always go through he said didnt need been machined, gasket just moved outta place had to reseal it and position it, and torque some other s**t... and after he fixed that it still occured
and all it was was the thermostat been rooted and the coolant overflowing in my bottle cause there was so much pressure and heat that it had to overflow out of the bottle, which probably blow the head gasket in the first place !!!

i boiled the thermostat didnt do anything open or do s**t so i knew it was rooted and its out atm and ive tested the car all day its colder then its ever been haha

thanx boys all the mechanical rushing around for nothin what a waste of time. :D :D :) :D
