Been having only a small problem with my EL I6 over the past week. When cold the engine hesitates/lacks power until the revs get over around 2500rpm. After a few minutes of driving its ok. As far as i know the oxy sensor is the original one, could this be causing the hesitation. Thanks guys.

possibly the manifold temperature sensor? Replace the oxy sensor as a matter of course. It will be out of spec and is only about $50

Are there any fault codes relating to your problem ??
I'd suspect the temp related components - O2 sensor, water temp and the IAT (as mentioned). IIRC the O2 sensor doesn't come into play til a few minutes after cold startup. Is there anyone nearby that you can swap these components to confirm the culprit?? Maybe the sensor areas/plug connections may need cleaning, e.g. scale buildup on the water temp sensor. Be careful with the O2 sensor though - I'm not sure they like any cleaning of any sort.

Will look into the IAT sensor first as it is a temp related problem then onto the O2 sensor. Thanks heaps so far guys, will keep you posted on progress.

Head gasket was done 70,000 k,s ago, have had no loss of water and no oil in the water so it cant be that along with this problem happening suddenly. Got a price from Ford for the IAT sensor $136.00 and they have in stock so may be a common problem.

don't buy new unless you are sure that's it. ford may be able to test it? The gregories manual has test voltage measurements I think?

Just got a price from Repco for the IAT sensor as i get discounts there, the IAT sensor was listed at $36.00 and is Bosch. Ford wanted $136.00 and i guess its also Bosch. The only reason i tried Ford was because i assumed it can only be purchased as a OEM product. Proof on why we call it Fraud and not Ford!!
