Does anyone have a picture of what an O2 sensor in good working nick should look like? Would be handy. Also, what is the price for a new one. Anyone recommend getting one from the wreckers?

Colour is irrelevant. Stick a multimeter in the back of it and make sure it cycles voltages quickly. If it stays at one voltage or moves slowly, say 1-2Hz then it is bad.
cheers Scott

Yep the bosch 1s on ebay are a treat, but the guy has a limited supply. If in doubt, and inexpensive, Replace .

Repco sell the Bosch units, same as genuine, about $60 to $80.

If it's done more than 80,000 km swap it anyway regardless of what it looks like.
For $60 - $80 new it's not even worth trying a used one esp. from a wreckers, where it could have done 150,000 for all you know.

I've got an EB as well so might just swap them around to see if replacing the sensor makes any diff.
