Just a food for thought, even if you do cover your extractors, if you get pulled over by a highway patrol car in VIC, they will make you take off the shield the extractors on the side of the road. This is because these police are specially trained for modified vehicles. They have been trained up by vicroads. They know what mods are legal and what are illegal.

If they believe that your car is over the power limit, the have the power to seize your vehicle and take it to get dyno. This will mean that you cannot do any mods to "on the way" to the dyno place. They can get away with this under the new "hoon" laws.

This is the link that you were trying to find http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Lic ... tionsOnPs/
Pplatedriversandprobationaryprohibitedvehicles.htm

the part is this one that you were after
Quote:
has an engine that has been modified to increase the vehicle's performance (other than a modification made by the manufacturer in the course of the manufacture of the vehicle

So yes your car is illegal to drive on P's. I am not trying to be an a** just simply trying to clear a few things up.

NB Sorry had to remove clickable link due to it being too long :(

its bull s**t, putting premium fuel in my car increases performance, should this be an illegal p plate top up now :?
trying to get a decent correct answer out of the RTA in regards to p plate modifications is like running a race without legs... you aint gonna get anywhere

I love how someone who can't decide for themself (and after seeing this thread) whether an exhaust is a performance modification is paying out on the RTA for being useless...

In saying that if like Qld Transport they are useless.

This thread should be locked, there is nothing of value to conceivably add except for more P platers whinging about not being able to fit a droning s**t exhaust to their car.

Sorry about the late reply,But does this mean that me puting a ford straight 6 injected motor in my old ford XP is illegal for my P's? If i put the original motor in it "They arnt that great" and put extractors on it i should be ok? If i got pulled over and they said it was to powerfull could i tell them to take it and get it dyno'd? it would come up 5kw lol

Just drive it as is until you get off your P's, then go for your life.

What the f**k is wrong with people these days. Does it matter if its done at 18 or 21?

IMO trying to supercheap/autobahn mod your car on fruit market shelf stacker wages = EPIC FAIL!!!!
Whereas when you are 22, off your P's and in a profession or a trade then you can afford to spend up big and do some proper mods to your car and still have it all perfectly legal.
