Hi all.
I got my pacie comps fitted today. Already had a 2 1/2" cat back system. I have a high flow filter, and a mandral 3" intake, AU XR snorkle. Should I be able to feel a power increase? I can't, and I actually think it goes worse. The car even sounds like crap and is HEAPS quieter than it used to be. To be honest i'm deeply upset with the investment at the moment. I hope the ECU learns it all, and i get my power increase that i was kind of expecting, and a decent exhaust note.

I'm going to ask a silly question, is that the comps? or the normals?
I would have thought that you would feel a power increase, even if only a little, and i know they bed in, but it wouldnt make that much of a difference... Can't talk from personal experience as i only have cat back, but when my brother fitted pacies to his VY he felt it improve but the dyno said it didnt?? food for thought... |

Daniel,
I had stock headers before hand. Its only a futura so no facotry extractors. nicco, I dont really picture them beding in, they are just bent metal. Not like a new muffer or cat. Oh well, I'll do a diagnostic tomorrow and see what it says, also the car is going back on the dyno (same one as previously) next weekend. And then for a run down the 1/8th mile again. They should tell me. But the car still sounds s**t!

You might actually have less torque in the low rev range, a while ago when my mate fitted them on his ef he reckoned there was a bit less down low, and more up top

from memory the difference between standard pacemekers and pacemaker comp's is that the comps are designed for beefed up engines designed to run at higher rpm's where as the standards are for your average streeter which give more power down low in the rev range

from the design of both types. the comps should produce more low down powwer.. small diameter longish primary pipes. the bigger pipe of the original pacies would cause them to have less low down and more up top |

i'm getting a full system from extractors to tip fitted this weekend, which includes the ph4480's.

Yeah I'd be p****d off thats why I'm in no hurry to spend my money too, I have crappy Lukey extractors and a cam, got bugger all down low, all my power is after 3k, would the comps make a diff to low down without lowering top end

teh comps are for TOP END POWER and torque as they are for race cars which run in the high rpm ranges more than the low rpm ranges

the design says otherwise... small diameter long pipes premote low/midrange..... has been that way since the start...
shorter larger pipes remote mid/top end... they are the two most basic rules when designing headers. and believe me 4480s are nothing even close to real competion header. they are just a mass produced general header. when they where first put on the market pacemaker sent info sheets with them to all resellers. (at the time i was mechanic at one of them) on the sheet it said they are designed to have more low/mid range then the 4499s. Quote: if you havent felt any diff then somthinis wrong. i had my comps and a hiflo fitted and felt a diff straight away.
honestly man when my car has a problem i'll know. i don't need an internet mechanic to hand out advice. |
