Hey guys,
My current exhaust system is slowly dying so its time to replace, I want to go with a full 2.5in system with pacie 4480's but I have a duel fuel engine. Question is: How many duel fuellers have had problems getting pacies fitted to an EF/EL engine due to the lpg converter being so close to the exhaust manifolds.. I have a vialle lpg system. If they will fit OK, would it cause issues with the LPG system from all of the heat comming from the extractors? Do I need to get the heat shield modified and put back over the extractors afterwards? Any help or experience about this would be great!

It will cause no problems what so ever. I do however suggest going straight gas and leaving the fuel as you will definately be able to tune it better ..

Definately go the comps! Shouldn;'t be an issue fitting them with LPG, i've got heaps of room between them (and yes they are definately the comps).

the 4480 (comps) stick out too far and extend upwards of the head ports and *CAN* foul on the LPG converter.
it completely depends on the setup. It'd be recommended you heatsheilded the converter if the extractors go close. the normal ones (4499's) should fit without problems. I have 4480's on my car, and mine has LPG, the converter sits higher and just clears the extractors

measure it up but i doubt they wil fit as the vialle converter is very big compared to impco, brc etc
if the converter is mounted like in a tickford gas setup, then you will not get the comps to fit.

Fit the 4499 with gas cars looks neater & I doubt wether the performance between the two would be felt if you run a good exhaust system.

Shift the converter if theres clearance issues. After all it ain't called a modification website for nothign...

if you've got a lpg converter theere then you'd be silly not to refit the stocko heatshielf or make a new one, so after that they'd look the same. |

I've got 4480 on my EF with dual fuel.
Heat isn't an issue and I don't have a heat shield.... in fact, the LPG runs noticably better in the hot weather when the temp gauge starts to climb up to the M sitting in traffic. As for going straight LPG? No way on a EF. EL maybe but it's so gutless and inefficient on an EF since you can't advance the spark. I lose about 15RWKW running on LPG on my car. Thank god it's a manual! |

If your running LPG in the first place your looking more for economy than performance.
Thats a fairly large convertor to be moving around the engine bay without making it look to untidy. |

shifting the converter is not that easy especially a vialle there just too big, you move it up to clear the extractors and it will foul on the bonnet. and moving it somewhere else in the engine bay will require gas piping to be redone, not to mention you don't exactly have enough room to move it anywhere else.
