I guess this is what I need to fix - well at least it's an idea.
My car has recently decided not to start. This happens every now and then and it only works when I leave the car off for a while. This becomes really annoying especially if I want to go somewhere My car doesn't crank at all when this happens but when it does crank, it starts fine. Here is another topic I started just for reference (this is when I thought it was the brakes, but I checked these and it doesn't seem to be the problem): http://fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=37165 I have checked the relays but they seem alright too. So I assume I either need to clean or replace the Park/Neutral switch. Where is this switch so I can take a look at it/replace it? |

pretty sure the inhibitor switch is recessed into the LHS of the box. If dirt has got inside the recess and rusted the shaft then I'm told it's a right foul b**ch to fix

Front LH side of the g/box as mentioned. Big white switch assy.
Pull the front plug, short out the black/green and orange/black wires, if the car starts, the switch is the issue. Plug it back in and check your reverse lights work(2 x red/black wires). To get you mobile for the meantime, you can short out the two wires as above, or earth the orange/black wire at the starter relay.
