hi, my pcv valve doesnt seem to be just coming up with a pair of pliers, appears to be wedged in nicely, is there any trick to getting it out or do i have to completely remove the rocker cover??? any help would be appreciated, i am quite car illiterate. i have a ea falcon

Heya rens.
Might be easier when the engine is warm? But it's really just a very loose press fit... there's nothing actually holding it in there. Well, there shouldnt be lol.

really? thats wierd cos like i used pliers and put all my force behind it and it wont come out, the thing turns in its hole but wont come out

By the sounds of it the rubber has hardened, i've had them where i had to use a punch and hammer on the other side and still had dramas getting it out.
Go buy yourself a new gromet and PCV, very inexpensive. Then remove it with major force lol. |

If you go beating it just make sure that nothing falls into the rocker gear, you don't want to be cleaning out bits of plastic

Hey guys, my pvc pipe is cracked on the end that mounts onto the back of the engine. Can this be a problem? Still seals up quite well with that thing that holds it on.

If the PCV valve is damaged in any way, shape or form... replace it! They dont cost much. Chances are it's just the seal/mount thingy... Worst case scenario - the PCV valve is so damaged that the small ball in there (its basically a ball valve) can fall into the front of the engine. This has been known to get caught in the timing gear... resulting in some piston-on-valve loving. It's not worth the risk.

When we say valve, we mean hose right? I'm talking about the one that is wayyyy back on the engine, and connects to those chambers on the right of the engine, under where the inlet is.

By the way, my info above was for rocker cover off.
If you can't get it out with cover on, remove it and smack it out, grab a new valve and gromet. Till, it sounds like you're talking about the breather pipe on the back corner of the rocker cover. |

The plastic ones are the ones that cause all the grief. The breather pipe will be ok.

Yeah if it's a plastic PCV then buy a metal one for it.
Plastic are very dangerous when running LPG, a few on here have found out the hard way. |
