Hey fellas was just wondering if i can get the pedal box out without removing the dash. I have read that you have to pull the dash out. But people i have talked to reckon that you can just drop the steering column. Just want a bit of clarity before i start this job.

By the way the pedal has just started to bend around the pin.

you don't have to pull the dash all the way out.

What I did was lower the steering column, removed the main dashboard retaining bolts (don't remember how many there were). Heaved the dash out and unplugged some wiring to get it out a bit more for enough clearance. Left the dash resting on gear stick (auto stick...not sure how it'd work with manual), steering column and my legs. Undid the 3 final bolts that hold the pedal box in and removed the auto pedal box and replaced with the manual one. install in reverse.

Best to have a friend to help heave the dash up and hold it steady...that way you don't bend plastic components like I have .

in hind sight its a pretty easy job its just so god damn time consuming. Im in the process of repairing my busted pedal box.

take your time, put all of your bolts in separate glad sandwich bags and label them accordingly. this will make reassembly a hell of a lot easier

This may sound crazy but has anyone ever levered the pedal back and put a few decent tack welds on the plate that fails while it is still in the car. As mine has only just started to break literally did it as i got in my street car hasn't been driven since. Thinking bout laying a big wet sheet in their, i have a mate who is a very very good welder.

i pulled my dash about about 4 weeks ago and i'm in townsville. can give you a hand if you want it.

to do the dash and what not to that point shouldnt take any more than an hour going in or out. pedal box will take another 5 minutes after that, then it depends how quick you can weld!! lol

and yeah man, gimme a yell whenever, i'm always keen to do a bit of a cruise. i'd be lying if i said i was big into the car scene up here though, i dont do too much car scene stuff anymore.
