Why oh why can I never find any factory performance specs on any fords?

I'm looking to buy an EF/EL XR6 or 8 and want to know what the factory performance specs were.

The amount of info on XR "Fan Sites" is woeful and a real dissapointment.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good site with good performance specs?

Yeah. I checked that site. No info on the power of the XR6 engine (I assumed it would have been beefed up over the standard I6) and no 0-100, and the like, specs.

xr6 motor in the EF/EL has a different cam, larger exhaust valves on the head and larger cat back exhaust. 157kw standard, xr6 164kw?, fairmont ghia 161kw? STuff all difference really between cars. The ED XR6 had the biggest difference between it's base model. ED XR6 163KW compared with 148Kw standard.

cheers Luke.

Thanks for that.

Now, is it better to go with the XR6 and a new exhaust, or a stock XR8 for about the same price?

I'm looking at manuals only aswell. No autos.

XR8 no questions asked. Way more n/a performance potential.

Going from 3.23:1 to 3.45:1 isn't much of a difference and will probably make SFA difference in your ET - maybe 0.1s. I've just done that exact ratio change and really there's no noticable change in acceleration. If you went from a 3.08 though you'd notice it.

Unclewoja, as the specs show the XR6 is quicker stock but whack on a grands worth of wade regrind cam and exhaust/intake and you'll be running low 15s to high 14s and destroying even the AUIII 220kw XR8s (I ran a 14.8 in my manual EF futura with an auto wade stage 2 cam and extractors and intake)

Yeah. I'm probably looking at an EL cause they're a little lighter and have more power. Then I might think about megasquirting it and we'll really see it fly

i went from 3.08 to 3.45 and gained .7 seconds from my car...
i certainly think that from 3.23 to 3.45 would be more then .1!

0.7 from the diff change is pretty decent!
ok, based on what you found maybe 0.3 seconds then given the change in ratio change from 3.08 to 3.45 is 12% and from 3.23 is only 4.8%
It'd depend on gear shifts too. I found when I went I shifted from 3rd to 4th right at the traps, with a 3.45 you'll have to allow the change from 3rd to 4th. I've got a totally different engine now so I can't compare anyway.
