yeah i could not bee botherd taking it out. But i was thimking of geting a gas pod to conect up the air box because on hot days it drinks a bit more fuel. see if that changes anything.Hopfully i get more consistancy air temperature.
and for all you poeple that think going carby is going backwards your wrong i used to own the cfi. once i changed the engine naturaly breathed more air thus went faster carbies are more simple but once set up properly go like a bat out of hell meaning it goes hard. |

i gather this was a cfi ea???
wouldnt a mpi conversion have been more cost efective in the long run cheaper on fuel and a better power figure???? what type of power increase has it made???

yes it was cfi. to chang to mpfi i had to go out and spend about 1500 dollars as were carby set up only cost me the cost me 350 dollars .
Did any one know that a 500 holley flows more than a cfi and i dont have to spend allot of money on bullcrap electricals to gain some more power. plus there is no cam limit as were with the computer you have to change it or chip it$$$$$$$$.But the carby to give it some more balls i just have to change the jets $20. you decide. |

There's nothing wrong with his setup. dude, get a gas pod for the holley & hook it up to the airbox.
or modify a large air cleaner cover by attaching a hose between the airbox & cover.

You would easily get a MPEFI setup for less that $350. It would give you more power and better fuel economy. Being able to go bigger on the cam isnt really relevant for street cars. You can a lot of power out of the mpefi 6's without needing to play with the ecu. Its something different and not alltogether terrible, but being realistic it 'might' be better than CFI but it arguably nowhere near as good as log or bbm mpefi.

Dudes, you could goto the auctions & get a shunted in the a*** or side EA-ED MPFI falcon for under $350, and you have all the bits for the conversion. Hell, you could even sell other bits of the car you don't need or want to keep as spares to make atleast some or all of your $$$ back. Possibly even make a profit. Cheers ToranaGuy

Emissions reasons is why. You couldn't get that carby 3.9 abiding by the regulations for exhaust emissions that the car was originally built it. As in ADR whatever the number this car needs to adhear to, 37 maybe? That's where older car's can be easier to mod, less or no emissions ADR's to comply with. Cheers ToranaGuy
