if your using these pistons 6MKRY9414S...

then u have chrome coated rings which are really difficult to bed in...
go for cast and u will have no issues with bedding in even on LPG

the comp rings have bedded in, on a comp test im getting over 225psi per pot.

probably saying the rings havent bedded in is partially wrong...the bore has glazed up, and the oil rings cant control the oil. probably find with a ungalzed bore the comp might climb slightly as well

So the oil rings have failed???

and the compression rinds are fine???

When u pull the engine to pieces takes from pictures and show what u find exactly as im really interested and would help alot of us if we do rebuild our engines.

If the bore is glazed, you could try the " Ajax" trick. Done it before and worked great, no probs.
What oil did you use to run it in???? This can be a factor in running in the rings. Did you load the engine enough while running it in???

Tried the ajax trick, worked good for a little while,.

Used normal valvoline oil to run it in. Light to heavy loads for the first 500 then getting heavier, full dyno run at 1000klm and a few since then

oil burning issues could be something else other than just rings...

to bed rings in id go full load almost imediately maybe up to 3500rpm or so

its a combo of problems
1. wrong selection of rings for lpg engine leading to glazed bores and oil consumption issues
2. incorrect running in

if u persist with using chrome rings this will very likely occure again...
if u do everything the same as before (and even using only petrol), including being too gentle initially...u will likely have the same thing happen again...chrome rings can take 10's of thousands of k's to bed in

moly rings and high inital loads will sort u right....even on straight LPG

do u think a straight gas motor cant be run in properly? hastings did a test comparing different fuels and found there was no difference

So in other words rev the engine but not to hard and have alot of load in it to help the running in process???

I guess if u have a manuel car then its much easier to run in as u can hold the gears but in auto its abit harder

Man that would suck if you have a daily driver then as it may be a little hard doing that unless u do semi normal driving during the week, then load up the car on the weekend and go on a 300km drive and make sure there are plenty of hills. Would that be ok???

after using ajax, I drove the car down the the south coast, then up to canberra and back to sydney, using petrol. The car used approx 1 litre of oil for the 1000 k's travelled. It has certainly been worse than that before the ajx, but it still uses it. Since the motor went in it has used aprox 20L of oil for 10k klms travelled.

We built a 350 chev (using Hastings cast rings)for a customer and it went onto staright gas from the word go, 6mths later motor was back out as it was using oil. Rehoned, dynoed on petrol to run it in, the back into the vehicle. Still using oil but not as much as before.

When I rebuild my motor again, Im going to try a product called quick seat. Made by total seal rings, it is specifically designed for fast bedding in of rings.

As for incorrect running in, I've lost count of the number of motors I have built and installed. And currently work for a engine reconditioner, spoke at length to various "experts" about running in on LPG and none could give a staright answer. Even the ACL rep told me the rings I used would be fine as they were gas nitrided rings and would bed in...

so the ba piston wont work then? well not to gain comp anyway, so decking the block, shaving the head and using the ford au head gasket should get the acl pistons to be a little under 11:1 comp?
