Are there any other options for the au falcon? its for NA set up after higher comp really as i think the stock pistons are fairly strong, acl get them made by MAHL and you can get them in a kit like the acl race kit but it comes only with pistons and rings, would make comp in the high 10s i think,so is this the only option? have checked with other suppliers but no luck, maybe custom but what kinda cost? any body got advise on this? or have a set up, and know roughly there comp ratio? thanks

I think its ony ACL's forgies that get made by Mahle and the rest are made here, but to be honest I haven't considered getting ACL's non-forged pistons in so long that this may have changed.

If looking at hypertuetic I wouldn't get ACL's as have seen them used before (although not in a ford) and the ringlands have issues. Also From memory the compression for the ACL race series is around 9.8:1 using e-series stuff and 10.2 if you use the AU pistons and rods.

only the BA turbo piston are 'made by mahle'. ACL owns mahle. so in reality they are made by ACL.

the cast pistons are not made by mahle. but yes they are basicly your only option.

I got a set of AU ACL Race pistons in mine and my car holds up strong, when i get the supercharger it will test the strength of them i guess.

Was talking to NASON engine parts and they said at the moment mahle wont be making anymore ACL race series pistons for the au engine untill they get some good orders for them,so whatever i can find in stock is what i get, problem is to save on cost i want to buy them wholesale but there is only 1 set of 10 thou over showing in there stock,so might have to hunt around for a set, what kinda price have you paid for a set of acl race pistons? thanks

im just going to get some custom made

as for price on the ACL piston and ring set race series
repco quoted $374 but i think this is wrong as there wholesale price is above that
autobahn quoted me $609

there was another quote also back about a month ago i had a thread regarding this

hypertec flatops are available for the AU....should be able to get some for u for about $400 with rings...just off the top of my head....can find exact price for u if u like

these are just as good if not better than the acls which have been known to break rings on installation easily if your not EXTREMELY careful.....

The BA LPG pistons are made by Mahle. Mahle is a german company, and are the supplier for a lot of European car companies as well as some USA companies too.
Here are some pics of a BA LPG piston. They were 10.7:1 comp ratio.
They have graphite coated skirts, and a raised crown, instead of the usual dish.
Note it has 4 valve reliefs, instaed of just 1 for the earlier ( 2 valve head ) pistons.

Can that BA piston be used in a AU engine with AU rods at all???

Heaps of compression which is great for LPG

Well ive read that you can use turbo pistons and rods from BA in a EF/EL and AU engine so i carnt see why not.

Im going to look into this and see what info i find

Build a AU engine for a EF XR6 with these pistons and would be sweat as my car is on LPG so it should get abit more power from the compression increase and LPG to support the octane needed.
