Just paint one side silver, so the heat would reflect back into the engine bay, bit like a mirror.

still prefer my method of merging the top of the standard airbox with the bottom half of a plastic battery box and put the pod in there with multiple cold inlet pipes (all but the factory ones are hidden)
The end result looks factory, sounds bl00dy loud with induction noise and gets most of its air from the access hole for the left indicator. There is a half finished post about it here somewhere with a couple of photos. |

excuse my ignorance but where does the air come from? like where is the snorkle?
I knwo there is a small hole where the headlight is... is that all?

on my EA/ED.. there is a round hole about 4 or 5 inches across in the metal behind the indicator into the engine bay.. if you look down and around in there, you can see the rather large open space enclosed by the front bar..
I ducted from the end of my custom airbox, down into that enclosed cavity.. Loads of air.. all of it cold.. and protected from sucking up water.. what's not to love? |

I knwo there is a small hole where the headlight is... is that all? G&D intakes ($600 to buy) on the AU 6cyl falcon don't use snorkels on there intake kits. Just get the air from behind the headlight. So they obviously found there was enough air coming in.

Look to the indicator end of the headlight, in the above photo.. you can see the edge of the circular hole. that hole leads to a big space with plentiful air supply. works for me, looks nearly factory and works great. |

Fitted a 9in K&N pod filter tonight that i bought from americanauto's online very loud now. Throttle response is also alot better.

Took the falcon out for a bit of a drive this afternoon after work on the highway. These large pods work alot better than the smaller type, i had been using. Around town in 60 zones it's not that noticeable but out on the highway it's a different story.
Especially noticeable when the BBM switches over at 3800rpm and between 80-120km/hr. Revs out heaps better and the tacho needle just hammers up alot quicker than before. Cheers...........

and what was the part number for the k&n filter... The K&N filter part is RE-0810 ($82.50 at Americanautos.com.au) And yes seals up with the bonnet. Probably not an air tight seal but pretty close (bonnet isn't perfectly flat). I just kept cutting away at the carboard template until it started to show signs of being pressed down when the bonnet was closed. Cheers...

theres not much airflow in the ef/el engine bays which would give u a great rate of heat transfer for the best results its best to mount the filter outside the engine bay but this is not on the menu for most like myself
ive tryed everything somethings work better then others but the best for me was a small airbox so my pod could only just fit in it ..the box was made of coolroom panels they reduce heat a fair bit ..then i just plumbed a 3in hose from the side of that into my front grill where it picked up fresh air from |
