Ok I'm new here so im not sure if this is the right place for this.

I'm not really a mechanic but I know enough to feel something wrong.

I've just put a completely removed my air box and put in a pot filter..I still have the air intake thing that pushed the cold air into the box but I dont know if I need a pipe from that to the other side of my pod. Before I used to be able to get to 5000 revs easy with out really planting my foot but now I have trouble getting to 3000 planting my foot....Don't really know what else to say .... Just offer me help please :)

thanks

Hahaha, I love seeing people do this, it's so funny.

Yess! less dense hot air for your engine!

Congrats, worse fuel economy and power.

But it's okay, you have a fully sik pod bro!!

why do people bash pods? back to back tests my pod i used (k&n) was no worse than stock and once you factor in the sweet sound it was a no brainer. i didnt do dyno or 1/4 mile runs back to back but just the floor it and feel the difference tests. to the op however its probably a s**t pod or you are using some restrictive intake piping or something or at the exact same time you have also f**k your cat converter aswell

Pod filters are fine if they are enclosed in a box. Put the airbox back in with a good panel filter, or work out a way to incorporate the pod into the airbox.

Just by putting a pod filter on the end of the EL intake pipe won't stop the engine breathing and reving up to the 5500rpm limiter on the EL engine.

s**t i can go outside now, remove my airbox and put my $20 SAAS pod from autobarn on and the engine will happily rev to 5500rpm. I would say you have knocked off the vacumme hose off the BBM or done something stupid when removing the airbox.

A little bit more hot air won't change the shift points on your gearbox...........

Most of the above posters didn't read your post properly and just went on the old overdrawn pod bashing program.

Cheers.

Do you realise those cheap a*** pod filters flow at a higher CFM than the factory ford/ryco paper filters. Paper filters flow at about 450CFM where the cheapest Pods on the market like TFI brand supercheap and SAAS from autobarn flow between 510-530CFM. K&N pods are generally flow up around the 600CFM mark.

I know a bloke at work that has run a 14.2 pass at Willowbank, In his R33 skyline and he is using a blue top $25 Supercheap TFI racing pod filter. I know it's forced induction but if this pod can get an R33 doing these times, I am pretty sure they can out breathe a 4l OHC motor. It's all about where you put them, the intake piping used and the cold air feed.........

Cheers......

Also if you mount the pod filter east-west the back of the pod acts as a heat shield and they work alot better then if if you have them facing north-south.

This is if you can't be f&cked heat shielding the pod.

So yeah basically get a 45-60-90 bend off the factory EL pipe and have the pod sitting east-west behind the passenger headlight or in the airbox area. Much like you see on EA-ED pod filter setups.

Works alot better..........

Im gettin real s**t fuel economy after gettin a pod. Might not be just the pod cos I had to get valves fixed up and lifters done.. but before the engine falling apart I had the airbox and the economy wasnt anywhere near this bad. I touched the pod after a drive, its gets hot as. I put on the heatshield that covers one half of the pod (towards the engine) but the problem is getting cold air in there. I left the snorkel on but dont think it makes any difference. Im gonna put the airbox back in and see if it gets any better. The sound is pretty cool but Id rather have a better working, more economical car.
