Hey guys, has anyone succesfully put a pod filter inside an EA-D airbox?
Seen it done in EF- airboxes. Trying to do it myself. Cheers. Trav.

I had a setup on My NC fairlane, a while back. Use a 90 elbow bend pvc pipe from bunnings and a small pod.
You will need to cut the bend to make it fit. the bend will fit into the intake pipe on the botom of the box. Only thing is that since the pod is small it doesnt really make much difference. Now i have a large pod in a open box, and a vent just above. Now that made a big difference |

ef airbox lines up in an EA-d series all you need to change is the snorkel to either xh or au3, then replace your radiatior hose with 1 from an ef-el to make room for the new snorkel, pod filter fits nicely inside ef box
Only prob with this is different throttle body position between models so with ''outake'' of the ef airbox is in an annoying spot. but nothing a little ingenuity and backyard customisation wont fix!

that's a bloody good idea Ruch. Good thinking!
Means no cutting holes in the top of the EB airbox and a lot less rooting around.

If you do it rite its a much neater looking finish too.
Thought of this the hard way in between many an F and C bomb in the backyard

ive done it pretty easy and running the xh ute snorkel,i used another intake pipe and cut the original intake hole bigger(like cut the adaptor piece off and cut into the side of the air box)until i could fit the end of the 90 degree in there then used that s**t black sikaflex stuff to seal it and got a k&n pod

You guys have me curious now. What should I do in order to fit a pod filter to my 4.0L EB Fairmont?

When you say Panel. do you mean what's already in there just get on made by K&N? Do these give less restriction for the air intake?

yep, the k&n pannel.
much less. have a look at the two, one is made of cotton, one of a carbord material. if your looking for a good intake setup, get a ef-L series box and have a look at this mod http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32404. but there are limits to how much air you can give it. remember, the injectors are tuned in a range that is within stock limits. if you lift the lid on the box, you get 15-20 rwkw i think at wot. but a lean motor in the top end
