i was thinking more along the lines of a modifies vk group a sorta scoop. but with heat shields should reduce it a fair bit. even with a box and a so called stainless steel 'cold air' intake gets hot. ive got heat wrap round my intake and top rad hose to try reduce the intake temp. and your rite about the longer the intake the greater the velocity at high rpm, but isnt that y ford has made the dual resonance intake?? to create more torque thru the rev range???? the reason y they hav intakes like that is to comply with adr and also induction noise.
but yeah thanks anyways, gives me sumthin to think about

cheers

My pod filter setup runs nicely, gets air from around the headlight, gave me more power and fuel economy. Its been on there since 2000.

oh, and btw, we have been pulled over before in it and the cops didnt say anything or have a look under the hood.... this is both when it was first grafted on and when the whole bonnet was primed..... yet to be in the car when it is pulled over since the new paint job.

I noticed your mates bonnet isn't legal anymore. The bonnet skeleton has been cut, changing the crumple rate of the car in an accident, and it hasn't been reinforced around the hole either.
And you try touching the panel in front of the radiator after driving around for awhile, that gets damn hot too. And thats where the std setup gets its air from.

I gotta jump in here. Someone back there (dunno who, don't really care) said that you won't pick up an kw by removing all the intake and going straight into the throttlebody. CRAP! Every dyno I have ever been anywhere near the first thing they do is run the car in street guise. Then they remove the air filter etc right back to the TB and get an instant reading increase. And I have the printouts to prove it. Gains aren't much but they are gains (98.5kw up to 100.5kw...and don't laugh, that was a stocker EB with 300 000k on the clock)

oh and when i ran my car on the dyno, the last guy wanted to take his intake off, and they said no way because s**t might get sucked into the engine from the garden near the doorway hehe.

hmmm that's the set up I was thinking off but without the tacky bonnet... I guess you can't do much on top of the engine.

phong =P~

EDIT: BTW thanks stock standard...I know what you are talking about now. Physics does come in handy :P

I think it looks over done and really not worth it. The scoop doesnt suit the car...but then again i dont think anything on a ef/el bonnet does.

Buts its an idea and someone tried it. Its unique and noone else has it.

Thats the setup i was talking about and looks like someone else knows of it bar me.

dosen't look like you'll run into much trouble with the RWC boys with this bonnet.

a bit off topic, but apparently DrifT make good flow filters at bloody good prices.

they wouldn't make them in a pannel size for an e series? i doubt it, but it'd be interesting to see the comparison
