While i was redoing the head on my car i went to a lot of efforts to polishing things under there like the fuel rail, power steering pump and brackets, and rocker cover in order to match the rest of the polished stuff under there.
i only did it about a month ago and i am already starting to see surface rust appearing on the pump and fuel rail. is this because they are made of steel and not aluminium or stainless? anyway of keeping them looking good? all i can think of is spraying them clear.... and here is an engine bay shot... any excuse to show it off!

Give them a wipe over once a week with something like WD40.

The best way to keep everything looking spot on is to keep on it....Polish it on a regular basis (Autosol polish once a fortnight but if you see it deteriorating sooner you might have to polish it once a week).

oh man... too much work LOL... should have gone for the stealth look that everyone is going for these days...
Gab1- its currently de-tuned on 12pounds putting out about 290 at the wheels (running a microtech). i broke some rocker arms and had to re do the head and sort that out, intentions were always to re tune it on some bigger injectors i have and pump the boost up...

yer the only way to keep stuff polished is to keep it polished unfortunately. clear coat will go yellow and peel off. a wipe with wd40 or similar increases times between polishes.
Nice unit though.
