well a 9sec 0-100 isnt too bad....
mine does 0-60 in about 3.5 0-100 in about 7.5 0-120 in about 10.0 and thats an EL Futura with mods listed below.... but then again, shes in need of a major service and tune lol

You shouldn't push those engines so hard.. every EA - EL I've driven starts to sound very harsh much past 4500rpm.

i thought they had one as well, found out the hard way though.... the gravel was calling me  At 5700ish it does sound a bit wrong, but that's what a clutch and second gear is for

I had something much the same in my XH, wondering why all the sudden slugish up hills and stuff, Found out that my accelerator cable outta was broken

If you really want better acceleration then consider a diff upgrade.
Your most likely on a 3.08 or 3.23. The 3.45 LSD are around $700 i think. You may get to 100 quicker but you wont be able to go much faster than that j/k

well considering, according to redbook.com.au, that a stock 94 fairmont does 0-100km/h in 9.4 seconds, i think your cars pulling alright.
