Hi everyone, wondering if anyone has any advice on this. My AUII has traveled 88000 k's is fully serviced with all filters, plugs & trans service. All standard except for tickford snorkel.
On warm to hot days, lets say 30degrees plus, the car changes from a smooth drive to a rough, gutless drive. The car exclerates poorly, delays & shifts awkwardly. It gets worse with the AC on, naturally. Now i've driven a range of different cars including other ford I6's, and I can say I notice a drop in performance, but this just seems to great. The cars temperature never creeps up to halfway, It doesn't miss fire, use coolant or anything like that. Any suggestions? |

Normal. Everything gets hot, expands, oil is water..

Its not normal, take it back to the people that serviced it. tell them about the problem. the service should be cover for at least 6 months as part of their guarantee. read the fine print behind the invoice.

then you need to use a thicker viscousity oil for operating temperature.how can a dealer in an australian climate sell a car that runs s**t on a hot day.there must be a fix!

Well the car runs a 15/40 viscosity as I found the 10/30 was just too thin, but it still ran the same with the 10/30.
I do all my servicing, it has fresh oil & filter, new plugs, leads & fuel filter. Trans service was done by a professional, as far i'm aware there is no tune up procedure for the AU engines? I do find it weird for an aussie built car to suffer from hot weather. I'm wondering if there could be an issue with the map sensor, as this measures incoming air temperatures, possibly not giving the ecu the right readings. |

possibility,unfortunately there aren't a huge amount of AU fellas on this site to share their experiences,try unplugging the MAP when its stuffing up and see what that does.otherewise you could try a thicker oil again,i use a penrite thats 20/50 to bring up my pressure and that seems to keep the car quieter when its really hot.

good question dunno on AU,if you have a gregory's or haynes that will tell you,i'm guessing the heat today reminded you of the problem coz it was bloody hot!

hmmmm gregorys says that the diagnostics isn't available on the AU & that it could be done at Ford.
Yes the heat did remind me, didn't drive it today but a few days back when it was about 34 and it was rather annoying to drive. |

id say check the map and do a diag.
you might want to put the dash in to the diag mode too, that way you'll see if the thermo is working properly or if the radiator is blocked. other then that its a bit strange. might want to reset the ecu and see if that helps too
