Hey all, my eb2 wagon is leaking steering fluid. I think it's leaking from the pump as it is leaking onto the alternator, is it time for a new pump or can I replace seals?

Its easier to get an exchange pump. If fluid keeps leaking onto the Alt, it will stuff it, as well as softening the lower radiator hose too, making it go mushy.

Is it easy enough to remove and diagnose the pump?

I would try the pressure hose first. If this doesn't fix it, then go for the pump.
You're looking at around $60-80 for a new hose and about $300 for a new pump. |

Papa Smurf wrote: The High Pressure hose and pipe costs $229.00 and you would still have to purchase the nut separate as it doesn't come with the hose. This is for an EF pressure hose from Ford though, but they'd be the same wont they? Ebay is about 60-70$'s. You may have the same problem as i had. Look at this thread if its leaking from the nut on the pressure line thats on the ps pump. fordmods-technical-documents-diy-f38/ask-papa-smurf-t82779-200.html

5h4dy wrote: Is it easy enough to remove and diagnose the pump? Degrease the oil residue area thoughly, and then run till you see where the leak is coming from. It could be coming from the hose ( hi or low pressure ), the O'rings on any of the fittings, or the seal at the front, so, clean it and look.

if its the hose you can get a new fitting for the pump end of the hose
cut the old one off very carefully and lubricate the new one with a bit of pump oil and push it on get it from fraud and ask for one to fit an AU COST ~ $10 OR seal kit for the pump from ebay $10 - piss easy to fit OR if its the HP hose connection at pump ive also fixed by taking off hose connection and place an O ring inside the replace fitting - the think from memory it was a VITON 203 cost ~ $1 |

Hp hose looks fine, no worries there, leaking from around front of pump, and also the return hose is shot, so will replace that and pump seals and see what happens

Hey my Ford Falcon AU 99 just started to leak power steering fluid. It seems like it leaks out of the plug near the stearing rack. I attach an picture. Have anyone an idee how to fix this?

Get a new high pressure hose from Autobarn/Aussie Auto/Bursons/Repco/Supercheap etc whatever is closest and a new nut from a BA... Ford will know which one you mean.

the high pressure hose is the hose from the pump to the rack (is it the right name?) or?
But it isn't leaking there. It looks like its a plug for an sensor or something. |
