hi. just wondering if anyone knows what the noise i am getting is, when i turn my wheel. it mostly happens when the car is cold (however it does it pretty much all the time), and if i give it more revs, i get less noise. is this my pump or something else?

is it a squealing noise ? If so your belt needs tightening or replacing.

Check the bearing in the idler pulley on the front of the engine......Mine did the same noise and shortly after the bearing seized up and chewed up the belt. So my advice is replace the bearing in the idler pulley and get a new belt to be on the safe side. The bearings are dirt cheap and easily replaced.
Hope this helps.

Hope this helps. i dont suppose you know the number stamped on the bearing? i just rang around and all i can get is the whole pulley ... that or i need to know the number of the bearing, but i dont really wanna pull it off and apart then have to put it back together again to have to drive up to the shop |

Hi There
Not sure if its the same as an EA but I bought some from AutoPro and they had plenty. Just ask for a PS idler pulley bearing. Cost about $5. I have a spare and the brand is KOYO - number 6203 RS. But this was for an EA. Good Luck |

I can't remember the number on the bearing but I've been told they are a common size. Give your local Ford dealer a call and ask them, They will definately know. I bought my bearing from my local auto shop and from memory it only cost me around $7.

I just took a look at the idler pulley bearing on my ED and the bearing number is 6203LH, So that is the bearing that is required.
6203LH is also compatible with the 6203-2RS C3 idler pulley bearing.....They are identical bearings but I'm guessing that different manufacturers have their own model numbers.
