Yeah that is what i tought too....could be a dodgy part although the guy that sells them owns a steering and brake shop so i thought that they would be alright...

have you considered it could be your idle speed controller? the power steer switch sends a signal to the isc so prehaps the problem lies at the other end???? just a thought, could be way off the mark?

I've been having the same rev drop problems in my EL.
My switch doesn't appear to be leaking ...so I've disconnected the plug from it and bridged the plug contacts with a piece of wire, and cable tied the plug up near the brake booster. Gonna take her for a drive now and see how she idles under low speed power steering turns.

Well ...that made f**k-all difference ...revs almost dropping to point of stalling when turning / maneouvring and when slowing to a stop.
Looks like a NEW Power Steering Pressure Switch is next

I had a problem similar to this. EL XR6 ran fine until I disconnected the battery to replace a headlight bulb. On restarting it would idle fine but the revs would dip after letting go of the steering wheel at idle. Really weird as you would expect the revs to dip as you were turning the wheel but it was fine then. Cleaned the isc with no change. No fault codes logged in the ECU. If I disconnected my powers teering switch the problem went away too. But I hadn't touched it! all I did was change a headlight bulb so it had to be masking the problem. Cleaned the throttle body then thought about it for a while as decided that if it was an older car I would be looking for vacuum leaks around the carburettor. Checked my inlet manufold bolts to discover they were a tad loose. Tightened them up and the problem went away! I can only assume they had been slowly loosening over the past 10 years and the ECU had been compensating. However when asked to do a step change from factory to the new setting after having the battery disconnected it spat the dummy. Hope that makes sense.

Hmmmm ...that's worth a look too ...'cos mine started after I replaced my engine fuse a little while back ...noticed she wasn't idling as smooth either ...and my fuel economy has dipped a little.
Gonna check my manifold bolts tomorrow ...cheers mate
