hi, does anyone know how well powerchips work in vct's? their website claims 187kw/403nm up from 172/374, but only using 98 fuel. would one of these work well in conjunction with ext/exh, and possibly a mild cam? oh yeh, retail $890.

ive heard alot of bad things about powerchip, even 1 instance where a car lost power after using a powerchip. I would be more inclined to go a Unichip, which will work well mods.

Ive heard similar things about powerchips.. Unichips Iev heard good things about, chuptorque I wouldn't be so keen on.. they just seem limited.

Cheers

I had a chiptorque chip in my eb and it was a great improvement. That was over 12 years ago.

Spend your money on cams, cai and exhorst, or if its for the 1/4 mile a diff ratio change to 3.7 will give it a real kick

Don't get a Powerchip, I've got a Powerchip Gold 98, and it does nothing.

looks like power chip is out also. But think what you want eg 0-100 times improved etc.

Thats where the diff ratio swap makes a huge difference

I installed a chiptorque item and lost 8kws at the wheels they are all full of s**t but id go the unichip or the edit they have both proven themselves both on and off the track.

Technically all the products mentioned here do the same thing. Chiptorques, powerchips and edits all work virtually identically and the unichip is a little different. The results you get comes down to the tune. Powerchip dont really seem to do a hell of a lot with their tunes. Chiptorque have done a fair bit of work and you should be able to pick from a quite a few off the shelf tunes (based on dyno tunes from people with similar mods as you) or just go straight for a custom dyno tune if your near them or they come to you. Same deal for the edit.

I am personally not a fan of unichips because of the way they work, but the good thing about them is you can be almost guaranteed that there will be a dyno shop near you that can tune them.

I would go LS1 edit, that way you would have Gen 3 which not is week like you 4L and you would be getting 250 rwkw instead of 180 at the motor thats just my view!!!!!!!

Powerchips are absolute rubbish. the worst modification you can do to your car.

I bought one for my EB V8 and it moved all over the place, i had to send it back to get the connections build up as it moved around. Didnt notice much power at all and it doesnt alter the shift pattern of the auto gearbox. way overpriced. rubbish rubbish rubbish.

I eventually had a micro tech fitted.
