Howdy.

Ineterested in a "chip" for the Falc.

Just wondering what you guys thought would be, or is, the best way to go.

Lookin for something that will work in conjunction with my current mods.

Value for cash and ease of installment is a priority too.

not sure of the "samboy"??? n the tweecer can only see... the powerchip is just a plug in chip basically... that would be cheap installation.. but not tuneable from memory... the unichip is fully tuneable.. on dyno with a laptop though... not too cheap.. but can make the most of engine modifications... i have a unichip btw...

As far as chips go I wouldnt go past a chiptorque. Unichip is to expensive for what it is IMO (only costs a little extra to get full aftermarket EMS in it). Powerchip = joke going by what people who have one say. Tweecer support for 6's just isnt there.

Wait awhile CAPA are going to release a ECU Flash unit for EF/ EL soon, you can then change lots of parameters like transmission shifts/Kickdowns, speed limiting ETC.

At least I think it is for EF, positive its for EL tho.

The problem here is that these have been 'a few months away' for 2 years now. Will be good when they get here, but keep in mind that an edit for E-series is much more complicated than AU or B-series, so it might be a while still.

It won't be a flash tuner, no f**k way (I stand by that)
I think will be twEECer style, seperate box that stores maps and is connected via J3.
Unlike twEECer, supposedly it will only hold one tune (bizarre really, if twEECer can do multiple tunes, CAPA should be able to...)
And yeah, we won't be able to touch it, it will have to be taken to a dealer that has the software. (stand by that too :P)
Software will be expensive, and only available to workshops.
Probably not very user friendly either.
IF it comes...
I'm not holding my breath at this stage.
Although I will be bloody excited if/when it does come out.

edit: reword, I don't actually know any of this for certain, it's merely a 'logical theory' I've formed.

Hmmm - sounds suspiciously like a chiptorque

Agreed. Plus, while they sound like a good idea now, they aren't a proven thing, If ya know what I mean...

I'd giggle my f**k a** off if they are!
And yeah stockstandard, very chiptorque like, from what I understand of chiptorques. But I have no idea on chiptorque's abilities.
Does it have full functionality? eg. trans control, SSS on EL Ghias, etc.
Cause if not, I think that might be CAPA's trump card.
Hence the lengthy 'coming soon'...

But we shall have to wait and see/not see I guess :P

Exactly. Ive seen bits of the e-series ecu's via tweecer and I have to say it seems like a horrible thing to tune compared to aftermarket products. Compared to even a cheap aftermarket ecu like the MS2 - I just go into 2D tables and set the engine parameters for different engine conditions and thats what I get. With the EEC there are so many modifiers in there, and if they are not ALL unlocked what you see is not what you get.

I imagine tuners will get their heads around it soon enough, but I wouldn’t want to be in the first group of people getting it installed.
