Did you make sure you reset the tensioner correctly?

With the engine off and rocker cover removed, get a screwdriver and gently see if you can move the tensioner in using chain tension. Some people don't realise that when the cam sprocket is removed, the tensioner "ratchets" out however much it needs to take up the slack, but it won't always go back in all the way it came. They then do up the cam and it makes the chain go dead tight with no tension relief.

If you can lever the guide (carefully, cause they break easy!), or see the tensioner compress when you squeeze the chain together, your tensioner should be set ok.

If the guide doesn't seem to move at all, and feels rock solid, you have a problem.

The timing chain tensioner has 2 stages of applying tension to the chain.
Firstly there is spring tension which is applied by releasing the cam (turning anti clock wise with allen key) and 2nd is hydraulic. Oil is pumped into the tensioner via a small regulator on the front left side of the head. If this regulator fell off during replacing the guides the oil pressure will be too much therefore too much tension will be applied to the chain. This may be the reason for your guide wear. The regulator is very small (about 5mm in daimeter with a pin hole in the centre) See pic.

How can you possibly have a different sized cam gear, with consequently a different number of teeth, and keep the timing in sync?

i guess there is just one way that il find out if that regulator is there.... also it was sugessted to me that mayb the aftermarket gear is sitting back a lill bit..i guess it does seem a bit silly for it to be something like that...its just that big RRrrRRRRRr that it makes is not something i was expecting to come of all the hard work and $$,,
