1521a is a billet cam, ie no shims neaded.
I ended up using Crow Single valve springs, $110 iirc.. I was going to use double springs but these required molly retainers which added $140ish allone, with the double springs coming in at $140ish. The car is overfueling to alllll buggery atm, so an Adjustable reg is finding its way in very soon.

I have an 1997 EL XR6 manual and i wanted to get either the 977b or the 1521a cam from wade, i rang wade and they could give me much feedback on the 1521a. which one would people reccomend i get as i want the most power i can get without hte car stalling all the time. I Know XR6 springs are stronger but will they hold up on a 1521a? I dont want to change valve springs or Modify ECU. any help or past experiences would be greatly apprieciated

You are limiting your cam choices if you refuse to modify the ECU. J3 chips now make this easy.
Nice thread mine, btw.

I am running the 977B wade cam. What a f**k cam. This is the cam you should use with the xr6 valve springs. Try 147rwkw & 410nm of torque out of my engine. More power & torque than the cms stage 2 auto cam package. Dyno figures from a mainline dynolog the same dyno cms uses.
Sorry not bagging cms just comparing. For me the power figures are good but the torque blew me out of the water. I am useing a xr ecu & xr fuel reg with au injectors. My head has a very mild port job with bigger exhaust valves & YES i have a auto with std converter. Car starts pulling from 3000 to 5000 rpm & the power curve flattens out after that. The 1521a cam will need heavyer springs & a adjustable ecu to run properly. Not to mention a very good port job to your head to make very good power. By the way i am selling my 1636 wade cam.

Thanks racer for your info. Do you loose bottum end power/torque on the 977B or is it similar to the standard cams bottum end power/torque? Also hows Fuel Economy? Have You got a 1/4mile time?

Mate this cam outferforms the 1636 all over the rev rang even down low.
If you are going to get the 977B cam tell Keith you have a auto with std stall if yours is a auto. To tell you the truth i am get more kms than the 1636 cam. Example of my car: 1636 - approx. 500 to 520kms 977B - 550 to 570kms from a full tank of 98 octain fuel. No quarter mile time yet. Just a little bit embarassed due to i used to have a 600hp fire breathing xw falcon which ran mid 10 down a quarter.
