Mild difference in cast, same in every other way apart from the Knock sensor location won't be drilled/tapped.
different timing cover.

knock sensor is on the upper cylinder inbetween 5+6.
everything can be fitted the the ED block. as I said before, the timing cover needs to be reused. the syncronizer will fit in the dissy position.

thats good then cause i have a ed block so i can put all the ef gear in to it because i am rebuilding the block and putting all ef gear in it plus a crow cam the biggest i could go with the standard computer plus stronger valve springs and twelve thou shaved off the head i just wanted to make sure the blocks were the same thats all so i can get started

You will find the air conditioner compressor is fitted higher on the EF compared to the ED, this can lead to the serpentine belt tensioner issues.
Better check it out
