OK, ok,ok....a mate of mine races speedway...had a xflow that did 8,000rpm....regularly.....and on methanol too.....never blew it up.......they have the same bottom end as EA to EL...stroke wise that is.
Now, he has been putting together a SOHC donk....may see same revs.....have to wait and see on that one.

I had a little Yamaha motorbike rev past 20,000rpm, but the little Honda was better for rev's. It hit 24,000 and there was still a little bit of power there even.
Maybe I could chop about nine tenths off the EL I6 block, put in a crank from a sewing machine, put four pistons into what is left of bore #1 and weld a plate over the back. I'd then obviously need a plenum and will fit an electric fan forced induction system. Damn. I had a good message there until I mention electric forced induction. |

I really think a lot of you people are very rude! I think i should tell you (reluctantly) that i have Aspergers syndrome. A lot of social nuances are totally lost to me. I don't take s**t from anyone. And if i get any more defamitory treatment i will take legal action.
I have been racing and modding cars for a long time as well as my firends who one at the age of 15 was .Au sprint car champ and now wins HP Shoot outs, leases 3 full sise works hsops to house his and his brothers cars and even has his own dyno. And here you are trying to tell me I am a tosser becasue i know fast cars rev more than 5000RPM and what to do generally to make engines rev and make ussable power. Even quote your forums sponsors own words on how to do things, and you think i am spinning crap? Saying 12 PSI is high boost (my but it is) Fords don't have too high compression to run high boost? (my but they dont) here in people who sell you your over priced kits own words and advice. Yes the l6 can rev. Yours might not but thats probably why your cars so slow. Speaking of which, anyones cars in the 9s yet? If you look at ppl who have fast cars. Do they not rev to 10 000 RPM, have a 2 speed power glide, a 5000RPM stall converter and 4.11/1 diff ratios? Or do they have 5000RPM, a smooth shifting massarti throw away with a 1000RPM stall converter and tall highway (i'm a cheap bastard that wont spend money on fuel and probably never buys premium in the first place). 3.08/1 diff gears? |

Yes, and it's not done with extra revs. Face it, the I6's will take a lot of work and expense to get 7500 revs reliably from them, for little benefit (you only want 160rwkw?*). To make them go, cram some boost in. Cheaper, easier, more reliable. I fail to see your obsession with high revs and applying ideas that may work for a old 308 to an entirely different motor. Also ignoring the advice from others here, with experience with the motor in question. *PS: this is attainable without extra revs; a cam, head work, intake, extractors/exhaust will get you there.
